This website is for the residents who live on the Parkhill and Sunrise Estate in Hornchurch in Essex. But everyone is welcome to find out about our estate, of which we are very proud, and how PETRA manages it day to day on behalf of our fellow residents.

Jan Davis writes PETRA is only as strong as our membership - and that means you. If you live on our estate, as a legal tenant, leaseholder or the tenant of a leaseholder, and are over 18 years old, you are entitled to be a Shareholder. Although all residents are welcome to attend committee meetings, only committee members or shareholders are entitled to vote. This means if there is an issue discussed during the meeting which requires a decision to be made, you as a shareholder, can have a say. It’s simple enough to become a share- holder - just call into the PETRA office and fill in a simple form and pay your 10p (Yes, that’s all it costs!). We will then produce your certificate and deliver it to your door. So please, show your support by becoming a PETRA shareholder, and have your say on the decisions that matter. The certificate is issued only once and is valid for all of the time you are living on the estate. Once you move away you are no longer a shareholder.

Family Fun Day, Sunday 12 June In celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday, and despite the weather, we had a fabulous afternoon. A big thank you to Jan and her team for organising such a special do. See more photos here!
Sun setting on Serena, Solar and Sunrise? In a recent newsletter, we broke the news that Havering Council has plans to demolish Sunrise Lodge and Serena and Solar Courts in order to build an ‘older person’s village’. We applaud Havering’s determination to increase provision for dementia care. However, we are frustrated that ‘consultations’did not take place before the drawing up of this plan, and we are saddened by the impending loss of a rather delightful settlement of spacious low-density buildings and beautiful grounds that, as far as we are concerned, already constitute a much loved ‘older people’s village’.
Need some help? Some PETRA Committee members and our Estate Manager, Caroline, have a wealth of experience in different areas. For example we can help if you are unsure how to: - fill in a form - write a CV - write a formal letter - write a reference
Come into the PETRA office and see if we can help you.
